'Horrible Bosses' has strong opening on Hollywood box office


The action flick "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" maintained the top spot on Friday at the box office, but "Horrible Bosses" had a strong opening and landed in the No. 2 position.

"Horrible Bosses," which stars Jennifer Aniston and a slew of comedic geniuses took in $9.9 million on Friday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie is on track to earn $25 million for the weekend and had a modest estimated production budget of $35 million.

The movie stars Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day as disgruntled workers who plot to murder their bosses, portrayed by Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell.

"Horrible Bosses" opened behind the Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake comedy "Bad Teacher," which grossed $12.2 million on its first Friday and ahead of Universal's "Bridesmaids," which earned $7.8 on its first day.
