‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2′ Breaks Opening Weekend at Hollywood Box Office

To no one's surprise, the finale of the "Harry Potter" film series easily dominated the weekend box office, setting records for the biggest opening weekend ever and largest single-day take with $91.1 million on Friday alone, according to final figures released today.

Between Friday and Sunday, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II" earned a staggering $169.2 million domestically, bolstered by Friday's record-setting pace, according to Hollywood.Com Box-Office.

Warner Bros. officials estimated Sunday that the film had earned about $476 million globally.

Some moviegoers, however, apparently found other films to see, with "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" earning $21.3 million over the weekend, making it the first film of the year to gross more than $300 million at the domestic box office.

The comedies "Horrible Bosses" and "Zookeeper" also got some attention, earning $17.8 million and $12.3 million domestically.

"Cars 2" earned $8.4 million, pushing its four-week total to $165.4 million domestically, and $311.9 million globally.

Rounding out the top 10 films for the weekend were "Winnie the Pooh" ($7.8 million); "Bad Teacher" ($5.1 million); "Larry Crowne" ($2.7 million); "Super 8" ($2 million); and "Midnight in Paris" ($1.9 million).
